Hey Friends,
Part 2 of my book review for July "The Haunting." This book hit my nerves because there is so much to unfold. Disclaimer: if you haven't read this book don't read this review, but if you did leave a review in the comment section below and let me know what you think. Let's start with the fact that Penny in my opinion got on my nerves no matter what the situation was she was always putting herself in danger knowing the danger she was facing.
The story describes a small town where a series of murders occurred, causing fear and tension among the residents. The town used to be very safe and residents felt comfortable leaving their doors unlocked and freely walking around, but this changed with the unsettling events of the past Halloween.
Nash and his family faced ostracism from the town after news of his father's involvement in a series of murders spread. Their once-friendly neighbors turned cold, with whispers following them wherever they went. Penny, who was close to Nash, received an ultimatum from her family to sever ties with him due to his father's notoriety. She struggled with conflicting feelings and the challenge of maintaining a relationship with someone tied to the town's suffering.
She and her friends avoid Nash and his sister, attempting to maintain normalcy until Halloween, but the murders resume, and they find a classmate's body while shopping for costumes. Nash is assumed to be the culprit based on a sighting in town.
The paragraph discusses the suspicious behavior of Zayn, Penny's penchant for getting into trouble, and the dangerous situation she finds herself in due to a masked individual following her, reminiscent of Nash's father's involvement in previous murders.
Towards the end of the book, I found out that Nash's father did not murder anybody at all, but was taking the blame for his daughter who was committing the murders. One of Penny's best friends, whom I didn't suspect because he was always there for them and supporting them, was revealed in the last chapter to be Nash's sister Grace and Omar, who teamed up to go around and kill some of the local school students. This revelation was upsetting. Omar had a crush on Grace for a very long time, and Grace used that to her advantage to get Omar to kill for her, all because she wasn't happy with how the townspeople treated her and her brother, and also due to how they were treated in the city after her father got arrested. The reason Grace and Omar attacked Penny was that she wouldn't stay away from Nash.
The last ending of the of book left me in a frenzy and a lot of questions:
- Who got shot?
- Did any of them survive?
- Did Grace get arrested?
- and so many more.
Did any of you read this book and what did you think about the book?
