I have never
had the privilege
of petting a sheep
of any color
breed
or size
I want to pet one
because
they are beautiful
but I bet their coats
are thick
and tough
not soft
and fluffy
I'm also not sure
whether or not
a sheep would be interested
in a human
making baby noises at her
or him
singing softly
and telling long
drawn out stories
about brave sheep
who have saved the world
but that's what I would do
I'd want them to know they got
a bad rap
that being a sheep
isn't a bad thing
that sheep can be brave
and fight to keep their coats
from ugly humans
who throw them to the ground
and steal what is theirs
I'll bring sheep t-shirts
that have
SHEEP FIGHT BACK
printed on the backs of them
I'll encourage them
to make waves
big ones
to fight
to eat all the grass they want
to kick and bite
and do whatever else sheep
can do
to protect themselves
and their lambs
from being someone's
dinner
sheep need encouragement
and I'll be happy to
jump start their
revolution
and that's why
I want to pet a sheep
to start the ball
rolling
and to stop
humans
from killing them
