Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 8:38-39 (NIV))
Are you easily convinced or persuaded?
If you are like most people, you have to be presented with some very compelling arguments in order to be convinced that something is true.
Well, it used to be that way!
With all of the media bias, social media and the constant bombardment of our senses with trivial matters and lies, it is extremely difficult to discern the truth. We see far too many people who are convinced that lies are truth and that good is evil. We see far too many people whose only opinion of God is that He is love, and as such, He accepts anything that they may want to do.
Too many people have believed the lies of the enemy!
Too many people have believed that we don't have to repent of our sins.
Too many people have believed that Jesus embraces our sins!
This is utter nonsense and completely not Biblical!
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
(1 Corinthians 1:18 (NIV))
Jesus did not come into this world to be a social justice warrior. He did not come into this world to coddle us and tell us that our sins are ok. He came into the world to call us to repentance, and for those who answer that call, we are given an amazing promise.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
(John 3:16-18 (NIV))
If you are convinced of the truth of this passage, then you should also be convinced of the truth of Romans 8:38-39. If you are convinced, then you believe. If you believe, then you have faith in these promises!
I have but one more question for you.
Is your faith this strong?
