The Reason I Married Him by Meghan Quinn | Kindle | In this marriage of convenience, there's much to enjoy and I laughed out loud a few times. There are open door scenes, but not until towards the end.
The Nanny by Lana Ferguson | Kindle | In this single dad and the nanny romance, the situation of them having met before-but-can't-remember-how-or-when was an interesting angle, but took too long to reveal itself, in my opinion. I did award points for Aiden, the single dad, being a chef and not a billionaire or a professional athlete. 🙂 Several open door scenes.
On The Edge by Julia Connors | Kindle | This second chance sports romance is apparently the author's debut novel and is set in Park City, Utah and the world of competitive skiing. Jackson and Nate have history; the kind where you think the door is closed forever ... until he joins her racing team, and she is forced to be his physical therapist. As far as premises go, this one fully delivers on its promise. Something of a slow burn, but when the steam arrives ...
The Boston Brawlers books 1-4 by June Winters | Audible | the author apparently believes every romance is hotter on the ice. Born in Minnesota, Winters grew up knee-deep in hockey and quickly learned to love the sport – but especially hockey's strong and sexy heroes, who will do anything for their teammates ... and the women they fall for.
These stories were ideal listening when I was out and about with Tilly, as I didn't have to give them my full attention, but they all could have been so much more. Plus there were a couple of things I didn't like - all four books had poor editing and grammatical errors (and why do American authors refuse to use an adverb?); several had mispronunciations (even allowing for American English v British English - eg. normalcy v normality).
