As the holidays creep around the corner, winter break becomes one of the most anticipated breaks of the year for students all around the world. Two whole weeks off include some of the best holidays in between: Christmas and New Year's, but what makes winter break so anticipated? Is it the sledding? The anticipation for Christmas morning? Or is it the ability to sleep in until the afternoon?
Winter break is one of the most exciting times of the year for many not only for students, but parents as well. Parents get a small break from work and can spend time with their families, and kids get to do the same—but what are students' favorite part of winter break? There are so many things to look forward to, but there has got to be something special that stands out to everyone. Although many kids say Christmas and opening gifts is the best part of their time off, many other kids enjoy activities such as skiing, watching movies, and hanging out with friends.
Every student is different but many like spending their well-deserved time off in the refreshing winter weather. Skiing, sledding, snowboarding, and ice skating are all fun outdoor activities to occupy some free time during break while enjoying the beautiful wintery months. Junior Lola Romero said, "I like going to Mount Brighton to snowboard during my winter break." Although there are many great activities to cozy up with during break, students also like to take advantage of the Michigan winters and brave the cold with some fun outdoor activities.
Other students opt for more comfortable activities inside, shielding them from the brisk winters. Watching movies, sleeping, and hanging out with friends are all highly popular things to do during winter break. Freshman Logan Skrzypek said, "My favorite part of break is sleeping in." Although there are numerous outdoor activities in which to indulge, many students favor getting some well-deserved rest on their break, as they can finally catch up on their long-lost sleep.
Students also like to take the same indoor route but are a little more energetic when the break becomes a little more toned down. Playing games, baking, and shopping are all very popular activities to partake in especially when you want to do something besides laying around but are not quite equipped for the harsh winter weather.
As students enjoy all the fun activities winter break has to offer, they seem to be happy and grateful to have the time off. There are a lot of activities to look forward to, and students are certainly excited to get outside and enjoy the many winter activities during this upcoming winter break.
