Miro reportedly wants out of his AEW contract
According to a report from Fightful Select, the 38-year-old requested his release from the company recently.
Miro has not wrestled since defeating Andrade at AEW Worlds End in December. He was sidelined due to shoulder and elbow injuries for longer than expected after the match but has been cleared to return for some time now. Despite this, Miro has not factored into AEW programming at all in 2024.
It is believed that the creative issues that have plagued AEW and Miro's working relationship since he debuted in September 2020 have continued. Miro is said to have pitched working with Jon Moxley at one point, and AEW had considered involving him in the Casino Gauntlet match at AEW All In, but neither ended up happening.
There is no word on if AEW plans on granting Miro his release, or if there is interest from WWE in his return.
Miro is reported to have signed a four-year extension with AEW in March 2022 that will keep him under contract until at least the start of 2026. He is believed to be earning seven figures on the deal.
In March, TMZ reported that CJ Perry (FKA Lana) and Miro are separating after seven years of marriage. However, the former couple have expressed they are still willing to work together. Perry announced in June that she is no longer with AEW after having been an on-screen character from September 2023 to the end of the year.
