Matter Of Fact - a pressing plant in northeast Germany run by a team of "DJs, producers, collectors, and vinyl lovers" - is helping independent and grassroots record labels by manufacturing vinyl records in small batches and offering eco-friendly options.
The vinyl manufacturing company Matter Of Fact, which opened in 2022 after two years of development, runs three pressing machines that can press up to 30,000 records a month as well as carbon-neutral shipping and FSC-certified sleeves.
Founded by Andre Kronert, himself a DJ, Matter Of Fact was born out of the need for a manufacturer not operating with major labels and pressing large quantities of vinyl, rather focusing on high quality pressing, a carbon neutral approach to shipping, FSC-certified sleeves.
In the video below, you can hear Andre Kronert tell the story of how Matter Of Fact came into being in a structurally weak area of Germany in Güstrow, Mecklenburg Vorpommern, where little industry is located.
Matter Of Fact work with "the underground, the small and the indies who have held up the flag all these years". They have specified that they do not work with major labels, providing ample opportunity for independent record labels to have their vinyl manufactured.
The sustainability-centred business manufactures FSC-certified sleeves and offers carbon-neutral shipping.
Matter Of Fact also offers a Bio Waxx option for pressing vinyl, which uses material from used cooking oil or other non-fossil sources and industrial waste gases. According to Matter Of Fact's website: "The big advantage: no change in quality, sound quality or pressing conditions. The recyclability is the same, so it can be 100% reused in the current material flow."
Matter of Fact also ship to the UK and the rest of Europe.
