when I grow up
I'm going to save the ocean
and all the beings that live in it
no more fishings
I'm going to save the bees too
and the birds
and the tigers and lions
and all the other animals
and I'm going to teach people
not to eat other living things
and show them how much pain
and suffering
they are causing
by doing so
and I'm going to live with
a lot of cats and dogs
and play with them everyday
so they know how much I love them
and I'm going to make sure
the air is clean
and inhalers
are a thing of the past
and education will be free
for everyone
and no one will be shot at their desk
and if someone has a question
when they aren't in school
they can stop people on the street
and ask them if they know the answer
and no one will hurt anyone
all violence will turn into love
and everyone will have food
and housing
and no one will want more than everyone else
and the butterflies will return
as will the birds
and there won't be anymore sickness
and the medical profession
and the pharmaceutical companies
will go out of business
and senior citizens will be respected
and treated kindly
and creativity
and imagination
will be regarded with the highest esteem
and encouraged at every turn
and kindness will be the only thing
people know
that's what I'm going to make happen
when I grow up
my mother said I better start now
since that's a pretty long list
I think she's right
but it's up to kids
to fix what past generations
broke
no more poverty
no more hatred
just a nice place to live
for all living things
my mom said she'd help
my cat said she would too
so I'm going to make a poster tonight
and put it on my front door
then I'm going to tell my teacher
I want to talk to the class
so I can tell them about what I'm going to do
and ask them for their help
that way
little by little
we will make the world a better place
