Hey Friends,

Today and the next three days, I'll talk about three books I read for August. Let's begin!

The second book I will review is "The Housemaid" by Freida McFadden. As I delved into the pages of this intriguing novel, I found myself entangled in a web of unexpected twists and turns that left me astounded by the conclusion. It all began when my closest friend and I stumbled upon this gripping book during a leisurely shopping trip. Upon reading the captivating synopsis on the back cover, we were instantly drawn in and decided to make a purchase. Little did we know that this literary journey would leave us emotionally rattled, pondering over a myriad of unanswered questions. The profound impact of the story lingered in our thoughts long after we turned the final page, compelling us to engage in countless discussions about its intricate plot and enigmatic characters. If you haven't read the book and want to read it skip this review. If you read this book and you feel the same way as I do leave a comment at the bottom and give me your thoughts on the book.

Here are my thoughts:

  • Nina is married to Andy (Who has a dark secret)
  • Celia is Nina's daughter from a previous relationship
  • Millie is an ex-convict who spent 10 years in prison for murder and is now living in her car.
  • She applied for a housekeeping job position for a very wealthy family
  • Andy seems like a nice guy (at the beginning)
  • Enzo is a groundskeeper who keeps the lawns beautiful (but really, he is there to protect Nina and Mille from something dangerous
  • Nina is a total psychopath at the beginning of the book. One minute she was happy and the next she was pure evil
  • Come to the conclusion (Andy made her that way from the beginning of their marriage
  • Nina hired Mille and moved her into the attic storage room. The room was tiny and humid, but was better for her than sleeping in her car.
  • Millie fell in love with Andy over time not knowing his secret
  • Enzo gave Millie a warning about staying in the house
  • Andy was a wealthy man and owned his own company
  • Nina couldn't have children, but she could She had gotten on birth control and gotten a friend of Enzo to pretend to be a doctor so that Andy would think she couldn't get pregnant
  • She gains weight so that Andy falls out of love with her
  • Andy would lock Nina in the closet for every small thing he didn't like
    • When her roots were showing
    • Leaving things out
    • Keeping her in an attic for hours or overnight
    • Punishing her by taking her child away
    • Sent her to the crazy house anytime he didn't like certain things she did
    • Drug her and put her baby who was a few months old into a bath of water and made her think she had done it
    • He did all of this over 9 years
    • His mother never liked Nina
    • He made everyone in town are against her (even her best friend) the one she doesn't trust anymore
    • Andy made Cecelia wear these weird old creepy dresses from a scary movie
  • Millie didn't know that she was getting set up in the trap
  • Andy's Mother was the one who gave Mille the antidote on what to do to Andy in code
  • Millie was a great housekeeper (not knowing that she was helping Nina get out of her marriage)
  • Nina put Millie in the attic to keep her from getting locked in there
  • Nina tried to keep a happy life but she was planning to get out of her marriage with Enzo
  • Andy locks Millie in the attic because she left a few books on the table

Happy Reading!!!
