Be Still . . .

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
(1 Peter 5:8 (NIV))
When you have an appetite for something, do you stop short of getting what you want?
If you are like most people, you go through the refrigerator, the cabinets, the freezer, and possibly get in your car to go somewhere. You want something to satisfy a hunger, an urge, that you have and nothing you have truly satisfies.
It is a craving!
You could almost say that it is an obsession.
The devil is the same way. He wants to be greater than God and in his obsession to be this unobtainable status, he lashes out. He craves to destroy. He desires to devour the thing that God has established as His greatest creation. He hates, he despises, he abhors humanity. His desire to destroy us is only beaten by his desire to be greater than God!
Think about this for a moment.
The devil searches for someone whom he can destroy, whom he can devour. He looks for those who are easy to trick. He looks for those who do not have a firm foundation in God's Word. He looks for those who, like Adam and Eve, will believe his lies.
The devil has a hunger for the destruction of our souls.
You don't want to be on the menu!
