Be Still . . .

How sweet are your words to my taste,
sweeter than honey to my mouth!
(Psalm 119:103 (NIV))
I think that I can safely say that I do not know anyone who hates the taste of something sweet!
We love our donuts, our candy bars, our sodas, and for those of us in the South, our sweet tea.
Humanity has a sweet tooth, yet, far too many of us miss out on the sweetest morsel of all eternity. We fail to recognize the sweetest of truths contained within God's Word.
Things that taste sweet will soon fade. We will no longer hold that sweetness in our mouth. We will only hold it as a memory, and we will be left wanting more. If we indulge in more, then our physical bodies will pay the price.
The sweetness of God's Word, when we truthfully seek it out, will also leave us wanting more. Unlike worldly sweetness, the sweetness of God's Word and His truth will never fade. It is not a memory of a taste that we once had. It is a promise of a taste that is ours for all eternity. When we indulge in more of God's Word, we get a better understanding of who He is and His love for us. We get a better understanding of just how true these words are.
Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
(Psalm 34:8 (NIV))
I have heard it said that honey is nature's perfect food. Think about that as we visit this passage again.
How sweet are your words to my taste,
sweeter than honey to my mouth!
(Psalm 119:103 (NIV))
If honey is nature's perfect food, then God's Word is the perfect food for our soul.
Do you love honey?
