Be Still . . .

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
(2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NIV))
Most people fail to recognize that they need protection.
To be honest with you, I think that I can safely say that most people don't even believe in the devil, the evil one of old. To those people, they don't see a need for protection from something that they don't think exists let alone understand.
What about you?
If the evil one did not exist, how did Adam and Eve fall into sin?
If the evil one did not exist, why did Jesus have to come into this earth to bring salvation from the sin that we fell into when we were tempted?
Think about that last question. If the evil one did not exist and, consequently, sin never entered into this world, why did Jesus come into the world?
I firmly believe that this is the stumbling block for so many people that they must overcome in order to see that they are a sinner in need of a savior. They must recognize that evil exists and that the evil one is real. They must recognize that no one is capable of defeating this adversary on the merits of their own righteousness and their own strength. They must recognize and accept this truth as their own. They must recognize that they are a part of the "all" described within these words.
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
(Romans 3:23 (NIV))
They must also recognize one more truth and be ever watchful.
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
(1 Peter 5:8 (NIV))
Evil is real. Sin is real. The evil one is real, but we have a place of refuge!
The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous man runs into it and is safe.
(Proverbs 18:10 (ESV))
Are you under His protection?
