Keep your hands free and your water cool with this insulated water bottle holder. This project is easy and quick to make thanks to the features of our wonderful Janome machines and the narrow Janome AcuFeed Flex system with the Janome AcuFeed Flex Zipper Foot (ED) for zipper closures.
On Pinterest, you'll find various patterns, but I've simplified the task by cutting a rectangle with the width of the water bottle plus 2 inches or 5 cm, and the length of the water bottle plus 2 inches or 5 cm.
Cutting:
- 1 x printed 100% cotton fabric (rectangle as explained above)
- 1 x insulated fabric of the same size as the cotton
- 1 x long zipper
My own pattern
Custom Pattern Simple instructions:
- Round the top corners of both rectangles (as shown on the left in the photo)
- Sew the zipper onto the printed cotton fabric
- Place the insulated lining right sides together
- Topstitch through all layers on the right side very close to the zipper
- Stay on the wrong side, unzip the zipper halfway
- Sew the bottom opening
- Sew the two corners
- Turn right side out
- Attach a strap or ribbon to the center of the top
All that's left is to slide your cool water bottle inside and carry the strap on your shoulder. On the web, you'll find many variations of this pattern, but this method is the quickest.
Since this project is fast to make, consider giving this water bottle holder to your friends and family; it will surely be appreciated, especially if you mention that you made it especially for them!!!
This project can be created on ALL models of Janome sewing machines. Visit the Janome Canada website to see all the available sewing machine models, and arrange a test drive at your local Janome Canada dealer to see what machines they have in stock.
