Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin 'Bibi' Netanyahu is increasingly cornered in international politics as he has recently been accused of inciting genocide! The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered the Jewish Nation on May 24, 2024 to immediately halt its controversial military operation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, increasing global pressure on the Zionist Regime over its war against the Palestinian Hamas Movement. Israel, however, rejected the ruling of the UN's top court. Although the US has advised Israel not to get isolated in the current tumultuous situation, arrogant Netanyahu has rejected the advice.
On May 24, Judge Nawaf Salam, the President of the ICJ, stressed: "Israel must immediately halt its military offensive and any other action in Rafah which may inflict on the Palestinian group in Gaza conditions of life that could bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part." He said that the humanitarian situation in Rafah should be classified as disastrous. According to the judge, the situation is set to "intensify even further" if the Israeli operation in Rafah continues. Unfortunately, there is still no infrastructure or international rules to enforce the ICJ rulings! As expected, Israel is exploiting this loophole in International Law, with the Israeli War Cabinet making it clear that Tel Aviv would not obey any order of the ICJ.
Meanwhile, Benjamin 'Benny' Gantz, the political rival of Netanyahu and a member of the War Cabinet, has stated that their priority is to ensure the safe return of the Israeli prisoners of war kidnapped by Hamas. He has hinted that Israel shall continue the military operation against Hamas to achieve the goal. For his part, Itamar Ben-Gvir, the Far-Right politician and lawyer who has been serving as the Israeli Minister of National Security since 2022, has called the ICJ "anti-Semitic", saying: "The irrelevant order of the anti-Semitic court in The Hague should have only one answer: the occupation of Rafah, the increase of military pressure and the complete destruction of Hamas - until the complete victory in the war is achieved."
Initially, the US warned Israel that the safety of local residents should be kept in mind before launching an operation in Rafah. Later, South Africa urged the ICJ to take action against Israel for committing genocide in the Gaza Strip. Ireland, Norway and Spain, too, put the Jewish Nation under diplomatic pressure by recognising Palestine as an Independent State on May 28, 2024. However, Britain and the US have opposed the ICJ ruling, encouraging Israel to continue the military operation in Gaza.
On the other hand, Iran is helping Hamas to corner Israel. The Islamic Republic has reportedly incited Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and other friendly nations in West Asia against the Zionist Regime. Although Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei has the final say in determining Iran's foreign policy; the President, too, plays an important role in this regard. President Ebrahim Raisi, who planned a campaign against the Zionist Regime after the beginning of the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7, 2023, was killed in a helicopter crash on May 19, 2024. Majority of the Iranians believe that Israeli intelligence agency Mossad assassinated President Raisi by plotting the accident!
The ill-fated helicopter, carrying President Raisi, met with the accident while crossing the mountainous terrain in heavy fog on its way to the Iranian city of Tabriz. Earlier, the President took part in the inauguration of the Qiz Qalasi Dam on the Iranian-Azerbaijani border. Relations between Iran and neighbouring Azerbaijan have always been cold mainly because of the former Soviet Republic's close ties with Israel. Azerbaijan even has a history of helping the Mossad on various occasions!
The Conspiracy Theorists have opined that Azerbaijan could help the Israeli intelligence agency to plot the assassination of President Raisi. They have argued that other helicopters used the same route before and after the accident that claimed the life of the Iranian President, but nothing happened to them! It may be noted that when the separatist movement was on the rise in northern Iran in the past, the Mossad became active there.
Now, President Raisi's shocking demise has created fresh trouble for Israel.
