Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
(Ephesians 6:10 (NIV))
There are several definitions for the word "finally," but every single one of them implies the passing of time and a conclusion at the end of that passing of time. This implies that faith is not simply a matter of right here and now, but is a characteristic that must endure to the end.
Do you have a faith that can endure to the end?
I can hear the thoughts now!
Many may be asking exactly what is the end. There are several possibilities, and all of them imply a death of the physical aspect of our existence. Either our physical life ends or Jesus returns for His bride and our physical existence as we know it ends. Either way sees us facing the end of what Paul referred to as a race.
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.
(1 Corinthians 9:24 (NIV))
As believers, our prize awaits us at the end. Our prize awaits us if we are able to be strong in the Lord during our race. Our prize awaits us if we fully rely on His might power to see us through our race.
Finally, we will receive the prize!
In the end, we will receive eternity in His presence.
Running this race of faith in this sinful, fallen world is not easy. It requires a strength that we do not possess on our own. It requires relying on His strength.
Are you fully equipped to be strong?
