I have feathers
the chicklets have feathers
Ms Goosey has feathers
a LOT of us have feathers
so I think WE are the hope
everyone is looking for

I was hatched at The Coop
some say I should fly away
be with my own kind
be with other gooses
or geese
if you like
but I belong here
that's why they found me
this is my forever home
and everyone needs to realize that
where we belong is where our hearts
want to live
nothing else really matters
or webbed feet
or the ability to fly and honk
home
can be anyplace we're happy

I might be a small dog
but everyone tells me that I have a big heart
at first I thought they meant I was sick
but then they explained that it meant
that I was kind and generous
I don't feel kind and generous
I just feel full of joy
and maybe that joy leaks out
because I'm a small dog
and joy is a big thing

The poetry reading was a big success and several guests asked for copies of the poems to take back to their homes. The Office Committee got right on it and copies were printed and passed around.
