you know that old saying
about have a blast and going out
full speed ahead
laughing
or something like that
I think it's more like
leaving with a body
full of holes
from giving away so many
parts of yourself
you can still have a blast
and leave screaming
with laughter
but a lot of people
leave as wisps
see-thru
ghostly
empty
not the walking dead
but just kind of tired
of the repetition
of seeing the world
slide backward
getting meaner
and more
unequal
and after fighting
what is
you see how you have wasted
your time
thinking things could ever be
different
and then
you just don't care
anymore
once you reach that point
I think
you finally understand
what freedom is
it really is
all about letting go
of everything
