When my social feeds got bombarded by various Instagrammable cafes in Seoul, one particular cafe called out to me and I tried visiting them during my trip in Sep 2023 but they were closed for a private event
During my November business trip, I made sure I visited them again on my last day before my flight home and I was so glad that they were open. Also located around Seongsu, Teddy's Oven is quite popular amongst locals as well as visitors the moment they opened, there was a mad rush of customers going into the cafe right away
Housed in a 3-storey building, the overall look of the cafe has a cosy countryside cottage design with a cute courtyard up front and open-air rooftop space for customers to dine and relax. Due to the cold temperature when I visited, most customers chose to sit indoors either on level 1 or level 2. The moment you enter, you will be greeted by a large array of daily bakes; both sweet and savoury and smelling extremely fresh from the oven. There are also other chilled desserts in the cooler and you can order your beverages at the counter
I ordered almost everything which has the design of their mascot teddy. I was really touched by a handwritten Thank You card with a nice Teddy Christmas design which was given to every customer. The first thing which caught my eye was the teddy head madeleines which were nicely wrapped up like sweets. They were so delicious that I bought more to bring back to Singapore and surprisingly when I went home, they were still equally delicious. The madeleines were buttery and perfectly sweetened with a nice moist texture. They were almost as good as the Echire ones I had in Japan but their cuteness definitely wins.
The latte was cute but pretty normal and the chocolate mousse cake of the sleeping teddy was cute with a heavy chocolate flavour and thick consistency which was extremely filling for 1 person to finish eating alone. The tart with cream was a little hard and crumbly and I would have liked it with more butter flavour
Overall, I loved the atmosphere at Teddy's Oven and since I have a bias for anything with bears, I will definitely visit them again at least for those delicious Teddy madeleines and grab more to bring home
