However, what happened at home in the garden two nights ago has gone down in history as one of the most spectacular slug attacks I have ever seen! I got home late after training and went out to shut the girls in and transport Gertie to the Purple Omlet for her sleepover. When I opened Gertie's coop, I was greeted by a writhing mass of slugs. They were all over her food bowls, water bowl and all over the bedding. I removed Gertie and put her into the Purple Omlet with the Topknot Gang and back to sort out the slugs. On my way back, I spotted several on the food bowl. Rolling my eyes, I walked over to the Red Omlet and checked on the girls. To my horror, the food bowl was utterly encrusted with slugs. I collected all the food bowls and put them on the patio. There must have been well over 100 slugs. Raiding the kitchen, I found some salt. I know this isn't the best way to get rid of them, but time was of the essence. I used up most of the salt and then emptied all the food and washed each food bowl. By now, it was really late, so I dried the bowls, refilled them and kept them in the kitchen overnight lest the slugs sent reinforcements! | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
