The Philippine College of Criminology (PCCR), pioneering Criminal Justice Education in Southeast Asia, is now turning 70! In an exciting and momentous commencement of the year-long Platinum Celebration, PCCR brought together students, educators, administrators, and stakeholders in a big event at Quirino Grandstand on February 11, 2024.
The celebration kicked off with 206 vehicles joining the motorcade from Balut, Tondo to Quirino Grandstand, where they were met by students in a fun walk activity. The program opened with an ecumenical service and welcoming of LTC Alwin M. Maneja, GSC (SC) PA, Commandant of ROTC Unit to the 6th president of PCCR, Ms. Ma. Angelica Lei G. Bautista in the arrival honors. More than 3,000 basic cadets marched with their battalion joined by employees, students, and recognized school organizations as they paraded in the review. The freshmen batch 2027 was ceremonially welcomed and bestowed their name "Mandatala", an acronym for "Mandirigmang may Dangal, Talino, at Lakas'' during the Paghirang.
"We have come a long way." Pres. Ma. Angelica Lei G. Bautista proudly stated in her speech that as the first collegiate body that offers Criminal Justice Education in Southeast Asia since 1954, PCCR aims to consistently and innovatively take on molding students to service the community with Passion, Integrity, and Excellence, all thanks to Supreme Court Justice Felix Angelo Bautista (JFAB), founding father of the institution.
As the 6th president of PCCR, the long-standing family legacy has never been more out-of-the-box and refreshing under President Lei's term. Aside from the Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Forensic Science and Industrial Security Management were added to the pool of collegiate offerings. In addition to this, innovative takes on educational delivery such as blended and gamified learning, and short courses such as Cyber Security and Technical Vocation are taking shape this year.
So much to look forward to for the Philippine College of Criminology this 2024 and the years to come!
