Today's Bible Reading- Numbers Chapters 19-21.
February's Memory Verse- Isaiah 43: 1-3.
Good morning, my friends. I hope you're well. Our forecast for today: 60°, sunny, 10% chance of rain, winds from the east northeast at 7 miles per hour, and humidity is sitting at 77%.
What a day yesterday! I finished laundry (still needs folded and put away), made a trip to the pet store, picked up some prescriptions for Mom, came home and made supper early. I was able to have a bowl of pozole (I looked up the recipe for correct spelling) before I had to leave. It was delicious!
Mom didn't go to the lab. She knows she needs to get out, but she's almost borderline agoraphobic anymore. She'll say she wants to get out, and then right at the last minute, her stomach upsets and she decides not to go. Anxiety. I've been there. Shoot, I'm there. I just force myself to go out.
It was a beautiful day yesterday, too. Just a slight nip in the air, and the sun was so warm. Gorgeous day. What spring feels like around here.
The meeting. I was a bit worried about the meeting all day yesterday. I knew that some who were opposed to the adding two peeps to the library board had actually cornered one of the council members and tried to bully him into backing out of his vote. The problem we're having is with library administration. They've gone rogue. We're hoping that adding a couple more members to the board will help us garner some cooperation. I mean, the library admin has actually called one of the board member's employers to try and have that person fired. They're reason? The board member is conservative. That's how crazy this has become.
Anyhoo. The meeting was so packed last night that they had to turn people away. We did have police presence to keep things civil. I prayed almost the entire meeting.
The ordinance did pass the second reading, so if we can get it to pass the third reading, we'll be able to add two more members to the library board, and hopefully get some cooperation from the library admin. If she's the type to try and get people fired for just being conservative, she may just get up and walk out.
Enough of that. Wow. All in all, the meeting was civil. There was no shouting. No ruckus caused. The people in support were in support. The people against were against. The arguments were made by both sides, and the ordinance passed the second reading. After it was voted on and passed, a good third of the entire room got up and left. I stayed to the end of the meeting.
The walk back to the car was a bit long. I had to park almost two blocks away. I did get a space under a light, and I talked to my mom on speakerphone the whole walk back to the car. I didn't feel unsafe in the meeting at all, but it was so packed. We also had probably 7 officers there to keep things in check, along with two officers downstairs. The head officer I've met before. He pulls no punches. He wouldn't have let things get out of hand.
Today. Today I'll be paying a bill, making my menu, making my grocery list, and hopefully getting the groceries. I haven't seen the sale flyers yet, so we'll see what that holds.
I did make an appointment for my eye exam yesterday. The earliest I could get was March 13. I took it. April 3 will be my doctor appointment.
That's all I have for today, peeps. Love you all and until next time, stay safe my friends. ❤
