 Be Still . . .
 Devotionals for Daily Living ©
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace.
 (Acts 20:24 (NIV))
Can you honestly look yourself in the mirror and claim these words as your own?
More importantly, can you look into the heart of God and claim these words as your own?
We may be able to trick ourselves, but we can never trick God. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows our hearts!
Professing these words for yourself requires a boldness. It requires a confidence. It requires a hope that fully relies on the Lord. It requires faith.
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
 (Hebrews 11:1 (NIV))
I love Hebrews 11:1. These words solidify what each person who professes a faith in Jesus should strive for. We are to have hope. We are to have an assurance and a confidence. We are to have faith. I also love how this Complete Jewish Bible translates this passage.
Trusting is being confident of what we hope for, convinced about things we do not see.
 (Hebrews 11:1 (CJB))
In essence, faith is trusting in the Lord. We are to trust that His promises will always be a resounding yes. We are to trust His promises to the point that we become bold in proclaiming His truth. We are to trust His promises to the point where, if we are facing certain death if we don't deny Jesus, that we will go confidently toward His promises.
When we have this type of faith, this type of trust, we know that anything that we may have in this world is nothing in comparison to what the Lord has for us in eternity.
Think about this from a different perspective.
If someone asks you a question and you know the answer, do you waver in your response, or are you bold and confident in your response? Now, let's shift back to faith. The world is asking many questions. If you profess a faith in Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, you know the answer. If you profess a faith in Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, you are to be bold and confident.
Has your faith, your trust in the Lord, matured to this point?
Are you this bold and confident?
