Be Still . . .

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."
(Luke 19:10 (NIV))
Is this why Jesus came into the world?
Think about your answer while reading the following passage.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
(John 3:16-18 (NIV))
There is nothing in these words that says anything about Jesus being sent to be a worldly social justice warrior!
God's plan and God's purpose for Jesus coming into the world was, and still is, to offer salvation to the lost. Everything that He did while He walked this earth was to bring people to repentance. He was calling them to turn from their sin.
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
(Romans 3:23 (NIV))
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 6:23 (NIV))
He used many different things to reach people. He healed the sick. He fed the thousands. He raised the dead. All of these things were done because people turned to Him and what He offered. He did not raise a military army. He did not organize food kitchens. He did preach social equality. He did not preach on any topic that had a worldly nature.
He preached on salvation!
He came to seek and save the lost. He did not come to tell people that it was okay to stay in their sin. He told people to repent and follow Him! Anything else is not the Jesus that the Scriptures tell us about. Anything else is someone's attempt to twist His words and His actions to meet their agenda.
Jesus only had one agenda and one job while He walked this earth!
What job have you tried to give Jesus?
