| design and style report January 24 | What's the start of fashion trends? For many designers even before the concept is set, they look to first the fabrics and other raw materials to spark their imagination. TEXWORLD NYC at the Javits Center this month is a great place to start exploring materials that will soon turn into the latest fashion trends. This bi-annual show brought together creative industries professionals in the largest sourcing event on the Eastcoast. TEXWORLD NYC is the culmination of different shows under one roof - TEXWORLD NYC: a wide range of textiles, trims, and accessories; Apparel Sourcing New York City: ready-made clothing and accessories; Print Source: showcasing hundreds of collections by international surface and textile design studios and agents. The show aims to connect the textile and apparel sourcing community with global manufacturers and suppliers to the U.S. market. An Attendee favorite, Kai Chow, Creative Director of Doneger/TOBE, was back again this year with a trend presentation for Spring/Summer 2025. Four major themes were discussed — SOLACE, FRAGRANCE, AMUSE, and PROSPECTIVE — all offering a diverse vision of the future of fashion. Some of the key elements were: relaxed looks that are easy and functional, floral prints, minimalist looks with an emphasis of finer materials along with decorative fabrics and trims in dazzling combinations. | | | |
