The sibling of the Calm slides cover your toes, but are they as comfortable?
We have finally put the Calm clogs to the test. It has has taken a while as the footwear sells out quickly or are not available in the size we want. We were finally able to get a pair online after the e-shop restocked them. Many Nike stores including the larger ones, such as at Jewel and Vivocity did not stock them at all. At the former, a sales staff had not even heard of the Calm Slides, and did not bother to check for us if they were available anywhere else. We had to stay calm in our search for the Calm. We were not always successful. Although we have seen images of them, we wanted to know how our feet feel in the actual clog. As far as we are aware, these are not limited in their availability.
The Calm Mules, as Nike calls their elusive footwear, is truly very much the sibling—the Slide—with a toe box. It is all foam upper and foot bed, and although Nike calls their EVA "soft yet responsive foam", once worn, the mules do not feel that soft or responsive. The edge of the upper that sits roughly above the talus of the foot needed breaking into. As they are not especially flexible, fleshier feet might find the Calm Mules somewhat constrictive, as compared to the roomier competitor Crocks. But the mid-sole is firm and rather cushiony. Covering long distances in them is not be a problem, but they may not be as comfortable as they look. Still, the Calm Mules are, to us, the sleekest and handsomest clogs out there.
