There are currently no hospitals in Gaza as hospitals, along with children and other patients, have been crushed by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF). The quality of human beings is seemingly endangered today, with human actions and practices becoming quite inhumane in the contemporary world. Humanity is constantly disappearing from the world, especially among powerful people. Any scientific discovery or technological invention prompts wisemen to invent various ways to use it as a weapon of mass destruction. Abominable displays of violence have been manifested in the minds of people in the pretext of religion, nationalism or politics. The human species is probably going through an evolution of the brain that disables all the noble emotions and leads to violence.
It may be noted that humans were responsible for the disappearance of the Neanderthals from the Earth 30,000-40,000 years ago. Humans, with their relatively advanced brains and intelligence, used to co-exist with the Neanderthals. However, they triggered the disappearance of their neighbours because they did not want any competition with the subspecies of archaic humans. The seeds of violence have been carried through our genes for thousands of years. Humans never hesitated to kill members of their own species whenever they got a chance. They not always use weapons to kill others, but also create shortages of daily essentials, like food and water, deliberately in order to do so.

Modern human civilisation began with organised agriculture. Everyone has equal rights in all crops produced on this Earth. Unfortunately, a large number of people are starved to death by another group of powerful people who disregard this humanitarian perspective. Different powerful nations have conquered the original inhabitants of other countries with the help of modern weapons, and exiled them to the jungles in an attempt to expand their dominance. Some original inhabitants of a place are still being evicted from their own land for mining (of minerals and fuel) and other purposes. Hence, the sons of the soil are living as foreigners in many places across the globe.
In his 2023 American epic western crime drama film 'Killers of the Flower Moon', Director and Co-producer Martin Scorsese focused on a series of murders of Osage members and relations in the Osage Nation after oil was discovered on tribal land. The tribal members had retained mineral rights on their reservation and White opportunists sought to gain their wealth. There is nothing new in this film. Ever since people realised the importance of land, attempts have been made to forcefully take away other's land.
Since ancient times, killing has been going on in the world in the name of civilisation. Indiscriminate torture and killings continue to suppress public opinion against misrule and tyranny. The French Renaissance and Revolution shook the world in the 18th Century. Then, the Industrial Revolution took place in Britain and other parts of Europe. Although the usage of machines has advanced civilisation at a fast pace, it has destroyed humanity in a sense. Unethical competition has not only lured people, but also made them ruthless. Humans gained speed through domestication of horses first in Central Asia once upon a time. In the early 20th Century, the invention of aeroplanes helped human civilisation progress further. Now, targeting enemies with bombs and missiles has become a common practice. Weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons, continue to be stockpiled or produced in every country. With this, the strength of arsenal has become a matter of pride for powerful nations.
War often takes place to colonise a country or to increase trade by taking possession of mineral resources and oil of other countries. Over the 20th Century, Russia (erstwhile Soviet Union) and the US had been in a tug-of-war over Afghanistan's mineral wealth at the cost of Afghan lives. Armed conflicts are still going on in West Asia to take control of crude oil produced in this region. Ordinary people, women, children are the main targets of wars between Russia and Ukraine, and Israel and the Palestinian Hamas Movement. Most importantly, the United Nations (UN) has become a silent spectator of these events.
Certainly, there has also been an increase in knowledge-based information. Unfortunately, knowledge has made people selfish, instead of producing matured people. There is no end to human needs and it certainly helps people make progress. However, this psychological trait has also made people more violent by destroying their consciousness and humanity.
Perhaps, the extinction of humanity is the ultimate destiny…
