CELEBRATION IN THE OAKS HOLIDAY LIGHTS : New Orleans
Each year, from Thanksgiving through the New Year, the annual Celebration in the Oaks lighted display lights up New Orleans City Park grounds. This year, Celebration in the Oaks opens on November 25, 2021, and runs through January 2, 2022.
During Celebration in the Oaks, the otherwise lovely 25 acres of New Orleans City Park are transformed with dazzling and festive light displays featuring more than one million lights. It's truly a sight to behold, and one of those "musts" that really should be on your holiday to-do list.
Celebration in the Oaks has been delighting visitors since the late 1980s. It actually serves as a fundraiser for the park's maintenance during the remainder of the year. Annually, more than 185,000 people take the 2.5-mile lighted drive through this beautiful park. Driving Celebration in the Oaks is expected to take up to 45 minutes per car, which, of course, depends on the day and crowd size.
River City : Baton Rouge General Hospital:
The Baton Rouge General is welcoming the return of holiday lights at the hospital's campus on the corner of Bluebonnet Boulevard and Picardy Avenue.
The annual display will return on Friday, Nov. 18, starting at 7p.m. and will run through Saturday, Dec. 31.
According to the hospital, the 2022 display will feature a large walk-through Christmas ornament and present along with a 20-foot walk-through Santa hat. Visitors can also expect a 40-foot mega tree, two 25-foot trees synchronized to music, eight singing trees, a giant Santa, and more.
The Festival of Lights in downtown Baton Rouge was the official kickoff for this city's holiday season.
The festive featured 250,000 sparkling lights, a 35-foot Christmas tree, a snow village complete with ice skating, and a visit from Santa Claus himself.
Baton Rouge Zoolights :
Zoolights, a walkable trail through the zoo featuring over 50 illuminated displays of animals and holiday classics, returns from Nov. 25 to Dec. 30. The event is closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, according to the zoo.
