Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
His love endures forever.
(Psalm 136:1 (NIV))
What do you think of when you think of the concept of forever?
Are you even able to grasp the concept?
In our limited understanding, we promise to love someone forever. We promise to be faithful forever. We promise to be truthful and honest forever. We know enough to be able to recognize these things as being good. No matter how much we may desire to do all of these things, we are only human, and we are all limited in our abilities and in our time. We have a beginning and an end in this physical life. Everything that we do, everything that we are, will come to an end.
Perhaps that is why we desire something that is lasting!
Or, perhaps we desire something that is lasting because we were made for eternity and the fall from grace destroyed that for us.
We seek something that is forever because we were created by someone who is the holder of forever. We desire forever. It is human nature to fear death. We fear the idea of not existing forever.
I can't help but think of the God shaped hole that each of us have. We try to fill it with anything and everything, yet, all that we need to do is embrace the grace and mercy freely given to us by the Lord. Only by embracing His grace, mercy, and enduring love will we understand forever. His great love is new every morning. It will take us forever to know Him, to love Him, to thank Him, to praise Him, and to worship Him.
Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus!
With what is going on in this world, we must not lose sight of the fact that He loves us. The things transpiring in the world are not His doing. The things that are happening are from the enemy, for the enemy knows that his time is short.
Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus!
He is the way, the truth and the life!
Only the Lord is good!
Give thanks for His goodness and love!
