Sam's Question
Kirk A. Booher I'd have to say God is of no gender, and with the greatest of respect not every single thing in the Bible is as accurate as people think, don't forget it's been handed down over decades and what I refer to as organised religion wants us to believe that we will be punished if we dont follow every word, the only person we punish is ourselves depending what we do in life. We were given free Will so how can we be punished? I'll never forget an incident many years ago now, a church visitor was sitting with an old man in the hospital where my grandad was, the poor man was dying and yet this visitor kept on saying he had to repent no matter no matter what it was, the poor man was scared enough without that. I was very angry and I told the man he had no right to put the man through that, and then reported it to the matron on the ward because I don't believe people should do that to anyone. All they need is a comforting ear or just some one to sit there and be with them.
My Pondering Answer
Sam - You seem like you a thoughtful caring person. Thanks for sharing that story.
You know our world is a paradox of sorts, full of apparent contradiction and dichotomy all the way down the atoms with their protons/neutrons and up to to the sky with is sun/moon &'light/night. God is God of the micro/macro both.
Free will is an awesome gift, if used properly, and a nasty curse, if abused or neglected.
We were each born with free will but we aren't free to choose when, where and to whom we were born.
So we are free to make most of our decisions but not all.
We are free to choose but not free of the consequences of our choices.
We have 100% free will yet God is 100% sovereign. That hurts my head but it's true. It's the ultimate antimony (where something seems impossible from our limited perspective but is all possible from God unlimited omnipresence).
We each inherited Adam/Eve's virus. As we were all born into sin as the Bible explains. Thankfully, when the time was right, God the Father (as He calls Himself) sent His only Son to die for our personal sins and bear our just punishment on that old rugged beautiful cross because we were and remain inept according to God's standard. He is the Supreme Creator and Judge.
The 2nd Adam made it possible to restore our relationship to God by having faith in Jesus Christ as we are called unto. This is the Gospel.
Repentance and acceptance are both required!
So you are most certainly correct the dying and hurting need grace, mercy, compassion, and comfort. At the same time, more so, everyone needs Jesus and His resurrecting power.
For if we are born again, born twice as stated in John 3:1-16, we will only die once. For being separated from God eternally is worse than physical death. It is death of our eternal soul. So B2D1 is the ultimate secret which God has revealed.
He loves us! So much that He died for us. When we are in Heaven, there won't be marriage between man and woman but between the church and Christ. We the faithful are the church of Christ.
This is I know for the Bible, God's holy word, tells me so.
I pray you find some truth and comfort on these words and perhaps might be blessed by checking out my blog PonderingLife.blog where I try my best to understand and share the beautiful/mess we know a life.
