Today's Bible Reading- Amos Chapters 5-9.
Good morning, my friends. I hope you're well. Our forecast for today: 81°, sunny, no rain, good air quality, winds are currently from the east northeast at 4 miles per hour, and humidity is sitting at 90%.
Well, welcome to another Friday. According to the Essene calendar, today is the Day of Atonement. The modern Jewish calendar has already celebrated that a few days ago. Tonight is also a full moon. The Essene calendar was a solar calendar, though, and I believe the modern Jewish calendar is lunar. Anyhoo. Just a little factoid for you.
The Pork Pot Orange was a hit with Pop last night. Mom was grumpy all day, and the closer we got to dinner time, the grumpier she got. She said it tasted okay. She'd eat it again. I gave her a break last night and cleaned up after supper. She was really grumpy all day. I hope today isn't a repeat of that. She has the tendency to say hurtful things when she's grumpy. She doesn't remember saying them, but I do.
Today I'll be balancing ledgers, making a trip to the bank, and making a trip to Ollie's. That's the plan, anyways. I have a habit of making plans, and then something happens to change them.
Now, a question must be asked. Did I enjoy the pork pot orange? I did, actually. It's the weirdest name I've ever encountered of a dish, but it was pretty decent. I used two bags of frozen butternut squash cubes instead of sweet potatoes, but other than that I stuck to the recipe. I just used the squash because I needed to use it. I would make it again. I'd like to try it with sweet potatoes. The chops weren't super dry. I used boneless chops that were thick cut. The recipe calls for one-inch thick chops. I think these made the grade. The orange and the onion really worked together and brought out the flavors. I used tangelos instead of regular oranges because they were on sale. One tangelo netted me over the amount of juice I needed for the dish--1/3 cup-- but I just went ahead and used all the juice.
I wonder if I substituted the orange with apple if that would do well. Pork and apple are two flavors that go well together. Maybe next time I'll try that. I'll run it by Mom first. See what she thinks.
Um, let's see. What else is there? Not a whole lot. The groceries are in , the lawn's been mowed, my first cup of coffee is almost gone, Gracie is bugging me for attention, and it's almost time to feed the fish.
That's all for now, peeps. Love you all and until next time, stay safe my friends.
