I have lived in Aberdeen for many years, and I worked in different places including Bars and Nightclubs. As a student ambassador for Robert Gordon University, a lot of people ask me where is the best place to go for cocktails or food in Aberdeen. I have a lot of favourite places, but these are a must try.
There are a lot of amazing cocktail bars in Aberdeen, but Orchid for me ranks on top. Why? I never had a bad drink there. They make excellent authentic cocktails, tailored for you, or you can get any original cocktail you'd like. If you love Negronis' as much as I do, this is your place. They also have their own Porter's Gin, which in my opinion is excellent, and sometimes during the week they will do promotions on it. And my favourite part about Orchid? They give you free breadsticks and cucumber water. However, they don't sell food and if you like to have more than two drinks, it is very pricey, especially if you're a student. But totally worth it!
Revolucion De Cuba is a rum-bar based in Aberdeen, and a bit more budget friendly for students. Rev de Cuba sells all kinds of rum cocktails, you can order off menu as well (but it will be more expensive) and they sell great tapas! I love coming here with friends as it has a terrace outside, and on a lovely day it feels great to have some food and a nice margarita. During the week they do happy days on certain cocktails, or they do offers on food. All in all Rev de Cuba has a good vibe, and good food and nice drinks so it is worth a visit. During the Weekend and on Wednesdays it can get very busy so you might want to book in beforehand! You can also visit their sister company Revolution Aberdeen just across the street, the difference is that unlike Revolucion de Cuba, Revolution is a vodka bar and their food is not as good.
Talking about good food, 99 Bar and Kitchen probably have the best bar food in Aberdeen I ever tried. Nachos? Great. Burgers? Great. Cocktails? Excellent. Their food is made by Roots, if I am correct all their food is plant based so this one is for your vegan and vegetarian friends! 99 doesn't just sell great food, but they also make really good cocktails. Similar to Orchid their staff can make any drink you want. You like chilly and strawberries? No problem coming up. And trust me, it will be good. I haven't been here in a long time, but still ranks amongst my best bars in Aberdeen.
Siberia is a vodka bar, and it is definitely a place for students. Not the best for drinks, but it is fairly cheap and their food is good. You can sign up for a little card that gets you discounts off food and certain drinks during the week, so that's a great perk! They have a large terrace, so when its sunny in Aberdeen, you will find half of the young people in here drinking their beers. Fair warning, don't bother trying their cocktails. Seriously, just buy a nice beer and enjoy the good food!
That sums up my favourite bars in Aberdeen for drinks and food, but there are many more places that you can visit. You will find most bars on Belmont Street and around the city centre, maybe you can do a pub crawl with your friends and try everything! Just kidding, be careful.
