I Love First Peoples are thrilled to partner with Janome dealer Haus of Stitches and the Saskatchewan Stitches 2024 Conference! The Stitches conference will serve as a venue for our first ever Saskatchewan fabric collection and volunteer event. We are now working with six communities in Saskatchewan so naturally we want to offer residents of the province a chance to support our programs! Haus of Stitches is located in Humboldt and owner Wendy Toye leads the yearly event at St. Peter's College and Abbey in Muenster, SK. The 2024 conference takes place May 31st to June 5th, 2024.
Our Sew & Sew program is sponsored by Janome Canada. We equip remote community schools with sewing labs, including quality machines and supplies as well as ongoing support for teachers. Your contributions help support Indigenous youth to learn valuable life skills through traditional projects. You can get involved in one of the following ways:
- Sew - We are accepting hand sewn items including pin cushions, pattern weights and thread catchers which will be distributed amongst our sewing labs! These can be delivered to the Saskatchewan Stitches Conference, dropped off at Haus of Stitches or mailed to our office I Love First Peoples - 274 Desjardins Street, Plaisance, QC J0V 1S0
- Donate - We are collecting new fabrics, tools and notions (please see the list below for details!) Donations can be dropped off at the 2024 Saskatchewan Stitches Conference (May 31 - June 5th, 2024)
- Volunteer - Join I Love First Peoples at the 2024 Saskatchewan Stitches Conference (May 31 - June 5th, 2024) to help us process donations and learn more about our programs!
