Back to school means organizing, and the trick to staying organized is having a place for everything, and everything in it's place. Make this cute and super-easy folded triangle change pouch, which is perfect for lots of little objects, like change for the vending machines, or headphones for students to stay organized.
You won't need much for fabric and supplies. You may already have these on hand, or can purchase from your Janome dealer as many of them sell fabric and sewing supplies as well as machines.
Materials Needed
Fabric: 2 pieces of Cotton fabric cut 4 1/4" x 10 3/8"
Fusible Interfacing cut 4 1/4" x 10 3/8"
Four plastic snaps of your choice.
Assembly Instructions
On the fusible interfacing, mark and draw a line 2" from the edge of both ends to make a trapezoid. Cut on the lines.
I rounded the corners on the two opposite ends to reduce bulk, which will make it easier to turn right sides out.
Iron the fusible interfacing to the wrong side of the exterior fabric.
With right sides together of the two fabrics, sew around the interfacing using a 1/4" seam leaving a 2" opening at the bottom. Don't forget to use your 1/4" presser foot for your Janome sewing machine and get accurate seams.
Trim away the two ends close to the stitching line to reduce bulk in the seam allowance. Turn right sides out and press.
Top stitch all around to securely close the opening.
Fold the pouch so the two inside corners meet.
Fold one triangle end and mark the location of the snap. Install the snap according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Turn over the pouch and repeat the corner for the other side. Install the second snap according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Fold the two corners to snap in place to make the storage pouch for an item of your choice. Quick and easy and ready for school! Make as many as you want and vary the sizes too!
Enjoy your back to school and fall season!
