When I was planning the trip to Kuala Lumpur, the KL Tower High Tea keeps appearing in my social feed and it looked really interesting so I went ahead to book a table since my parents would enjoy dining in a revolving restaurant

With a total height of 421m, the KL Tower is the 5th tallest building in the whole of Malaysia. KL Tower is a 6-story communications tower that opened in 1996. The top part of the tower houses the observatory platform and revolving restaurant

There is an entrance fee of SGD 11.37 for foreigners which allows you access to the observation deck. Admission to the sky deck or sky box is at an additional cost. There is also a tower walk for those who are not afraid of heights where you get to walk on a metal path outside the tower
I bought the high tea tickets at MYR 88 for adults and MYR 70 for Seniors or Children with an additional window table fee of MYR25 per table. They also have special table arrangements for special occasions like birthdays, anniversary celebrations or proposals at a different charge. The revolving restaurant has the table set on the outer ring of the revolving circle while the high tea buffet is set on the inner ring which does not turn. The tables are decorated in dated coloured tablecloths on top of equally dated yellow tone carpet
The buffet spread was sufficient for a high tea session with fried items like fish fillet, spring rolls, nuggets and fries as well as other warm food like fried bee hoon, nasi lemak rice, chicken curry, Hainanese chicken, grilled chicken, roti prata. For cold dishes, they have a salad bar and fruit bar as well as an area dedicated to desserts. There is also a live noodle station where you can get laksa or noodles soup. The dishes were all kept warm with the burner but the refill of food took quite a long time as most of the food was snapped up very quickly during the first round. As I was taking pictures, I had to wait quite a while for the food refill for some of the more popular dishes
Some of the dishes we took were pretty decent in taste in my opinion; the fried spring roll and fried lotus bun were crispy although the fillings were a bit cold. The grilled chicken and mashed potatoes were also decent in flavour and were quite tender even though it was no longer warm. The other dishes were mediocre; the fried fish fillet was very tough to bite and the pizza was similar to something from a convenience store. The fried bee hoon was very dry so you will need to eat it with gravy from the other dishes
I waited for 20 mins before the prata was refilled and I felt it was probably one of the best dishes served in my opinion as the prata was crispy and crumbly and perfect with paired with the chicken curry which was light in consistency but packed with flavours. The Hainanese chicken meat was quite bland so you will need to have it together with the black sauce and chilli sauce which made it more palatable. The chilli was on a sourish note and lacked the garlicky and gingery depth. The laksa noodles were also mediocre as the gravy was lacking flavour and the desserts were really not worth the calories. Surprisingly, the gado gado tasted refreshing due to the cucumbers and tofu but the peanut sauce was slightly lacking in flavour and tasted mostly sweet
Overall, it was an experience dining at the KL Tower restaurant as you get to enjoy the view of the city while dining. The complete round took about 1hr 20 mins which is about the same time you complete your meal. The meal was not fantastic as the quality is not that good and the service tends to be slow even though they are helpful and friendly. As part of the dining at the restaurant, we got to visit the observatory deck although there was not much of a difference in viewing from the restaurant. Other meals available like dinner would probably be more atmospheric as an experience for people looking to celebrate special occasions
