Who dares to publish a book during a pandemic? It would be totally crazy. No one would be able to come to any book signing event, or attend a conference featuring the book.
I would be that totally crazy person. Yep! That would be me.
Why did I do such a thing?
Many reasons; but the first one is that God put on my heart to publish my first book during the strangest time I've ever experienced in my own personal history. Unlike many; I worked right through the pandemic. The book publishing was something that I did on the side, whenever I got time. It wasn't easy at all. I had a busy job and a busier family; but somehow I did manage to get the words down into book format and get them published. Then I dropped the ball.
The timing just didn't seem right. There was no way I could market my book during the pandemic while holding down a busy career. So while it was stewing on the Amazon website like a needle hiding in a haystack; I published my second book.
You see; my first book was a layman's commentary on The Book of Genesis. I put every chapter of The Book of Genesis into simple everyday words that any person walking down the street would relate to. On top of that I added a lot of storytelling and some of my own personal comments and experiences to the mix.
The result was a book covering the first half of the very first book of the bible; but it didn't read the typical way most people read from the bible. You read the book as if you are simply having a conversation with your next door neighbor about how Jesus Christ is right there hiding inside that very first book of the bible. There are no religious, flowery words to throw you off. Those long lists of names and geneaologies aren't boring in this book. It is different.
Recently I've been re-reading the book chapter by chapter. That is the best way to read this devotional-type commentary of Genesis. One day I'm hoping to publish some conferences that teach from these books.
I'm still shocked and surprised to realize how God was using every thing He had taught me in life to fill the pages of this commentary of how the world began.
I love how He led me to mix it up and to bring out the Hebraic aspects of the protestant life I've been living for years now. Funny how all of my favorite life subjects just magically appeared in The Book of Genesis. This isn't your grandmother's way of looking at the book, I promise.
I had a lot to say, and all of it is interesting. My favorite characters live inside this first book of the bible. I loved revealing the little details that are often overlooked through stories of Cain and Abel, Noah and his family, Sarah and Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Each one of them hold a place in my heart that helps me through each day of the present times.
They were all such amazing people living through such amazing times. You would get to know them personally through reading the books I've written about Genesis. I loved telling their stories and sharing my perspective with my cherished readers.
The one problem I had in writing this book (besides the fact that I used absolutely no marketing due to the pandemic) was the fact that the material and stories from Genesis were way too much to be contained inside one book.
So I eventually wrote two books; The Gospel Hidden in Genesis Book One of Two, and The Gospel Hidden in Genesis Book Two of Two. My favorite character in book Two is Joseph. The details of his awesome life are carefully spelled out in storystyle.
My blogging community readers often ask if I will ever market these two great books in the way they truly deserve?
I hope to bring them along and into the marketing of another new book I'm going to publish this fall. I suppose you could call it a sequel, since the first two books were on Genisis and the next publication will be on Exodus. That book is titled "Exodus to Freedom." I plan to have this exciting new book edited, published and ready for sale by September of 2023.
Pray that I am able to accomplish these goals. I'm still working a regular job, but I've cut my days down to three a week in order to increase my writing time. Maybe I'll be better able to meet my own deadlines for publications now.
Will I be better with marketing this next book?
I hope so.
I'm planning the book launch events right now; even before the book is finished for publication. I want to give this book on EXODUS a great new start, but that isn't the subject I want to cover with this post.
This post is just to remind you that you can purchase the two books I have already written on Genesis at Amazon.com right now. If you hurry; you can have them both read before you order the new one on Exodus that comes out in the fall. Reading the books in this order is best and recommended, though each book will be self-contained.
If you wish to order directly from this website (which is very much appreciated) just click into these next two ads:
As you can see, both books can be purchased for less than $10. The first chapter is worth that much! This is special pricing that may not last long. I hope you go ahead and place your order today.
Why not use these books for your next group-study? It is an excellent tool for this type of gathering. Great discussions are sure to follow. Many readers report enjoying their own small-group studies of these two books.
I deeply appreciate every faithful reader who orders my books! I can faithfully promise to keep more coming your way soon. Remember; these books make excellent gifts for your Christian friends who are wanting to read something which takes them deeper into the life of Jesus. Isn't it ironic how the Old Testament CAN do this? So; remember to put us on your list for favorite gift ideas whenever appropriate. One friend reports that she gives my books to the people on her list who are hard to shop for and appear to have "everything." They love the books.
If you have already read either of these two books; I would love to hear from you in the comment section of this post. What were your thoughts? Please share.
