"I think she's falling in love with him," said Demeter. "Kitty Kitty lied to us, when he said nothing was going on. I can always tell when he's not telling the truth."
"You know," said Diana, softly. "Maybe it's not a bad thing."
"How can it not be a bad thing?" asked Demeter.
"I just mean, maybe they really do love each other and things are so different nowadays. It's not like they have to stick to the script any longer. We don't. Where in our myths does it say we ride motorcycles, wear t-shirts, boots and Levi's? I mean we ride, we drink, we smoke and we do whatever we feel like doing, regardless of the myth narrative."
"She's right," said Isis. "If they really love each other it would be wrong to break them up and if they got together, it would mean a stronger bond between the Gods."
"He seems nice," said Diana. "He's good looking. I mean he's very good looking."
Demeter was trying not to attack anyone. She couldn't speak, without breaking the windows, her voice would have been too powerful. But she felt pressure building inside herself.
"WIFE," said Zeus.
"HUSBAND!" shouted Demeter, glad for the distraction.
Zeus took a step backward. "THOU ARE LOUD TODAY."
"Well, you're LOUD everyday."
"HOW GOES OUR DAUGHTER AND HE WHO IS KNOWL AS HADES?"
"We think they might be in love for real," said Diana, watching the color in Demeter's face go back to normal."
Everyone gave a sigh of relief.
"IF IT IS LOVE, NO MATTER HOW LONG IT LASTS, THEN IT SHOULD BE EXPLORED."
"Is that what you did while we were together? Explore?" asked Demeter, hands on hips, eyes slits, as she moved closer to him.
"INDEED. IT MADE ME A BETTER LOVER."
Diana, Isis and Sally tried to pull Demeter off of Zeus, with little to luck at all.
"WOMAN, THOU DOEST BITE TOO HARD. WERE YOU A FAITHFUL PARTNER?"
Demeter stopped gnawing on Zeus's and thought for a minute. He did have a point, she thought. Then she dropped off of him, brushed off his shirt and smiled. "I haven't had fun like that in a long time."
"PERHAPS WE SHOULD TAKE OUR LEAVE AND GO UPSTAIRS...AND EXPLORE THE FUN TO ITS FULLEST."
Demeter looked at him and said. "While it would be like old times, I do remember that old times weren't actually good times."
Everyone held their breath.
"THEN I HAVE FAILED YOU SORELY," he said. "EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE NOT TELLING THE TRUTH, I AM WILLING TO MAKE UP FOR THAT AT THIS TIME, SHOULD YOU BE WILLING."
"I'll pass," said Demeter.
"FOREVER?"
"For now," she said, watching him smile. "What about our child?"
"SHE DOES NOT WANT MY HELP."
"She doesn't want mine either," said Demeter.
"THEN IT IS IN OUR BEST INTEREST TO LET HER FIND HER OWN WAY."
Demeter nodded. "Thanks for stopping by."
"YOU HAVE BUT TO SAY MY NAME."
He bent down and kissed her. She kissed him back. Then he disappeared.
"He's right," said Isis. "She has to find her own way."
"I know," whispered Demeter. "Just as we all did."

"I think we have run out of things to eat," said Hades.
"Agree."
"Dawn will be breaking soon."
"I love that. The first rays of light dripping over the windowsill," said Persephone, softly.
"You have a windowsill?"
"No, I have a wall of glass, but it sounded more poetic to say it that way."
Hades laughed and put his arm around her.
"I don't want to go home," he said. "I want to stay with you."
"I'm tired," she said. "It's been...nice."
"Nice?"
"Very nice," she said. "I had a great time. Do you think if we change the myth, it will rewrite itself in all the books?"
"I don't know."
""I wish it would," she said.
"All the myths are changing," he said. "Everything is changing."
"I can feel it."
"We have a chance to make ourselves happy," he said.
"You're a God, and a man. Not easy to trust either of those things," she said.
"How can I prove my love for you. What will it take?"
"There is no way to prove how you feel. I'm the one who has to jump off the cliff."
"I promise to be at the bottom waiting to catch you."
Kitty Kitty, who was hiding under a bush, stood perfectly still, tried not to gag, and wondered how long it would take him to teach the hellhounds that he was the boss.
