Rowing analogy 
We are called to hate what God hates and especially love what He does. The more we focus and abide with the Spirit, the less likely we are to get caught up in the carnal.
What do you think of this analogy of being 'IN the world but not OF the world'?
It's like rowing; let's pull forward and when its time, lift out your oars and then pull again.
