Milton Keynes Gallery will be holding a tour of the Wayfinder exhibition for children over the Christmas period.
On Wednesday 28 December 2022 (11am-2pm) join Tara Sheldon, the Gallery's Producer of Public Programming for Young People and Children, on her interactive tour. Together you will discover Larry's ideas behind his exhibition, including why he's included so many computer games and who are those characters in fancy gear and helmets suspended from the ceilings. Tara will also share some behind-the-scenes nuggets with the children about what it takes to stage an exhibition like Larry's at MK Gallery.
Tara said: "Watching the children's reactions to Wayfinder has been one of the best parts of the exhibition – it ignites their imagination. Also, we have some great dressing up outfits, designed and produced by MK College fashion and textiles students. Children visiting the show have loved transforming themselves into a Relic Traveller from Wayfinder.
"Christmas can be hectic for families so this tour could provide a breather for everyone. The children can join me in the galleries exploring the exhibition and gaming room, while parents can enjoy an hour in our cafĂ© – there's even some beanbags and computer games in there too."
Larry Achiampong's Wayfinder will be at MK Gallery until 15 January 2023. This major solo show by British-Ghanaian artist Larry Achiampong includes a newly commissioned feature-length film, as well as his Pan African flags, life-sized Relic Traveller figures and Glyth collages.
Spaces are limited. Tickets are on a Pay What You Can, but booking is essential www.mkgallery.org
The exhibition is open until 15 January 2023. It will be the last opportunity to visit it in the south of England before it travels north to BALTIC in Gateshead.
