The photo above is a bronze statue downtown Huntsville and it's a depiction of Tom Thompson, one of the Group of Seven Painters. Tom Thompson died prior to the Group of Seven formation but he was a significant part of the Group nonetheless.

I love Huntsville, it's about 45-50 minute drive from the Park. Lots to do in this area plus another Ontario Provincial Park, Arrowhead Provincial Park. We like to walk around downtown stopping in different stores and of course the Beaver Tails restaurant. If you haven't had a Beaver Tail, well then you must not be Canadian! It's not a real beaver tail (obviously lol) but a pastry, deep fried in the shape of a beaver tail and then decorated however you like. Clint and I stick to the original which is just cinnamon and sugar but you can get Nutella, bananas, and a multitude of other items on your tail.

I should take some photos of downtown Huntsville next time, I always forget. It's a pretty cute downtown and they actually have used the downtown to film at least one Hallmark movie. Pretty cool!

I had read about a trail in Huntsville that I had not heard of before so we decided to check it out. It's funny how you can go to a town or city over and over and still find new things to do and see. The Hunter Bay trail is quite unique, it's about 7 kms long and two parts of it are a floating boardwalk.

  • Hunters Bay Trail
  • First part of the trail
  • This boardwalk is on one side of the lake
  • Other side of the lake
  • Such a great walk

On the way home we stopped in Dwight at the Boiler Room Tap and Grill for a bite to eat. We have been here before and it's a pretty nice spot.

  • Nice spot and they have a nice patio which was closed for the season
  • Inside
  • the only bear we saw this trip lol

Below is a pic I took on a side road on the way home.

If you haven't heard of the Muskokas, it's a beautiful area. A real "cottage" area with tons of outdoor activities and beautiful scenery. If you are in Ontario, this is a great area to visit.

See you soon!
