Joshua was instructed by God to have armed men to march around Jericho once a day for six days. The seven priest were told to carry seven trumpets as they marched. They were not to use them until the seventh day.
I feel like these instructions carry prophetic significance.
Let's explore that possibility today.
WELCOME
Welcome to our COME AS A CHILD BIBLE STUDY. We are still in Chapter Six of The Book of Joshua. It is totally amazing to observe how God timed this study out for us. This week in which we study is falling on The Day of Atonement in the Hebraic calendar. That is very significant to today's lesson.
God's timing has broken through to us once again. I never cease to be amazed at how He constantly leads and directs our thoughts as we study together. If you are new to this study, we want to thank you for joining in with us. You picked a great day!

SIX DAYS OF MARCHING IN SILENCE
What do you think these six days of marching in silence meant?
We could think about that by starting in our present year. This is a very significant year. We just entered 5783 on the Hebraic calendar. This is a time when the Shmita just ended. A seventh Sabbath Jubilee just closed. The end of the Hebraic year 5782 was September 26, 2022.
There were seven cycles of seven years completed. All of the six years in these seven year cycles were used for preparing and getting ready for the seventh year. It was to be the year of a sabbatical rest. In the case of all seven of these seven years cycles; it was the year of the close of a Jubilee.
It seems that the world just goes about its business in the six years preceding the seventh year. Typically the common people work; earn money, pay debts and hope that they can be relieved of the cost of living on this earth. They are constantly swimming in the day- to-day struggle to obtain food and shelter. Six years make for a patient struggle wherein people try to achieve success. Without God's intervention; it never comes.
FAITHFUL, BLIND OBEDIENCE
The seventh year is different.
This is the year that God proclaimed debts are to be forgiven. At the end of the day on the Feast of Trumpets during the seventh year there comes a time for God's faithful to celebrate. They will have gone through Teshevah. During Teshevh they would have received a spiritual cleansing and renewal of their spirits. Also; there would be a physical relief when the civil laws of the lands of God's people declared all debts are now free and cleared.
God has forgiven and man has forgiven.
What could be better?
CAN SILENT MARCHING BREAK DOWN WALLS?
We can see these six times of marching around the walls of Jericho in silence as how humanity struggles to accomplish their own success.
We are born in sin and we live in a world consumed by sin.
Everyone struggles to survive.
Humans keep trying and trying with no apparent changes. Just as that army of Israel marched around in circles for six days with no solution to breaking down those walls of their enemy. There is basically nothing they can do that will affect their current situation; unless they choose simply to remain faithful out of blind obedience.
Faithful, blind obedience is the key. We must remember to be keeping these last days in a similar manner to those old ancient Israelites. They marched six days around an impossible to penetrate wall with total faith in God and in total obedience.
WISDOM IN TRUSTING GOD
The faithful do not always understand what God is up to.
They do not know the wisdom that He and He alone is implementing; but they have been given His instructions in the Holy Scriptures. They obediently keep marching in faith until God gives more instructions. Over and over; silently trudging through life trusting God to see them through one obstacle after another. They keep marching.
Then comes the seventh day.
That is the day that The Commander of God's Army told Joshua to have the trumpets blown by the seven priest holding the seven trumpets.
What a noise that would have made.
The trumpet sound would be a very loud announcement that God is about to break through and help His people to obtain victory.
GENTILES WHO LISTEN TO GOD
On the other side of the wall; a Gentile woman named Rahab who helped God's people enter and determine the lay of the land is listening.
She hears the sound of the trumpets and she knows to get her people together. She has been given a promise that is sure.
Rahab and her household will be safe. They will be protected even though the walls have suddenly fallen straight down into the ground. The whole armed army of Israel is stepping through and into Jericho in order to take the land but Rahab isn't worried. She has faith.
The Israelites will not harm God's protected.
IN RELATION TO END TIMES
Can you see how any of this will relate to end times?
We have been told that the watchmen should always be watching. They are to be armed and ready because the Son of God is going to return. What will happen then?
There will be a great earthquake and walls of this old world will fall straight down. What was once fortified by plotting and conniving men will be destroyed. Every city will be defenseless to the Army of Heaven that is going to come and invade the space of earth.
Who is going to survive?
Only those who converted to God's ways; like Rahab.
RESURRECTION POWER AT WORK
Those who have been faithful.
Those who have been diligent to follow God's best ways to live.
They will have kept walking around and around the walls of earth until God comes again.
There will be a great shout.
Each and every knee will bow. Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Those who have been in step with Him will simply step from one place into another. They will attain the victory because there is resurrection power in that day for those who have been atoned by the precious blood of Christ.
A new day will be dawning.
The new Kingdom will come to this earth.
For many this day will be totally unexpected. Like those citizens of Jericho who were going about their day; unaware of the silent marchers of the six previous days. They will be caught off guard.
For others; it will be the grandest day they ever lived.
