A teenage cyclist from Milton Keynes helped efforts to raise money for The Henry Allen Trust with a charity bike ride from London to Brighton.
15-year-old Riley Kenney, from Milton Keynes, teamed up with nine members of the trust to take part in the 55-mile bike ride in a gruelling challenge undertaken on Sunday September 11th to help raise vital funds for the charity.
The goal was to help The Henry Allen Trust in its goal to continue to support children, teens, young adults and their families battling childhood cancer.
Throughout the challenge Riley and Team Henry wore black ribbons and were part of a two-minute silence to pay their respects and remember HM Queen Elizabeth II.
After completing the 55-mile bike ride Riley said, "What a brilliant day and I was so proud to be part of the amazing London to Brighton Henry Allen Cycle Team, I've never done anything like this before, but loved every minute of it (well apart from the puncture) and I definitely earned the fish & chips at the finish"
So far, Riley and Team Henry have raised a staggering £2,100, meeting 140% of their original fundraising target. You can still show your support by donating via Team Henry's L2B Cycle 2022 - JustGiving
The Henry Allen Trust's Director and Founder, Dawn Allen who also took part in the challenge added, "The youth of today get such a wrap and we wanted to celebrate Riley. What an incredible achievement from Riley and the whole team. Henry – it was a super touch challenge. The Henry Allen Trust will make this one of our annual events as we honestly enjoyed it so much. Thank you to everyone who continues to support Henrys legacy."
The Henry Allen Trust was founded in memory of Henry Allen, who tragically passed away in 2013 after losing his battle to Stage 4 High Risk MYCM Amplified Neuroblastoma.
The goal of the charity is to bring 'happiness' to children and families battling childhood cancer. Dawn, Mark and everyone involved with the trust have worked tirelessly to ensure no family is alone during their journey.
The Henry Allen Trust is there for these families from initial contact, all the way through the rest of their journey, be it treatment, remission or palliative/end of life care and beyond. The Trust do this by providing treats and wishes, financial assistance and emotional support to the families as well as holding a monthly THAT Support group where families come together to enjoy quality time with each other and share their experiences. The Henry Allen Trust also work with hospitals providing care packs, toys, arts and crafts, ward visits and even specialised equipment.
