Jason Day previews August and September's cinema releases, as Idris Elba stars in a film about a lion hunting tourists on an expedition.

Bullet Train (Out on 3 Aug)

A tedious and derivative-looking action epic as Brad Pitt takes on umpteen baddies on a bullet train in Japan.

Nightclubbing – The Birth of Punk Rock in NYC (5 Aug)

This fascinating documentary focuses on one club – Max's Kansas City – with recollections about the music and the scene by alumni such as Alice Cooper.

Beast (12 Aug)

Idris Elba leads this thriller about a tourist and his two daughters hunted by a lion during a safari expedition, with Sharlito Copley as their guide.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero (19 Aug)

I am getting old as this is the first time I have heard of this Japanese franchise. But incredibly, 'Super Hero' is the twenty-first feature film in the series. The Red Ribbon Army from Goku's past has returned with two new androids to challenge him and his friends.

The Forgiven (2 Sep)

Drunk driver Ralph Fiennes kills a young man en-route to a party in Morocco and attempts to cover it up. He treats the deceased like roadkill, but passenger Jessica Chastain (also his wife) is morally conflicted, and personal and cultural fireworks ensue.

See How They Run (9 Sep)

Star-studded period thriller. A film producer wants to turn a play into a movie, but when cast and crew end up dead, police inspector Sam Rockwell and 'green behind the gills' newbie Saoirse Ronan attempt to crack the case.

Jackie Brown: 25th Anniversary Reissue (16 Sep)

A dusting-off for this stylish Quentin Tarantino film that's also one of his least celebrated. 'Blaxploitation' icon Pam Grier - in her comeback - takes the title role of a flight attendant who gets caught by the FBI for
smuggling.

And on at the MK Gallery… Elvis (2 Aug) / Minions: Gru (2-4 Aug)

The Gallery is showing director Baz Luhrman's gorgeous biopic of 'Elvis the pelvis' (Austin Butler) and the latest in the series of animated blockbusters about the comic adventures of the yellow critter-helpers. For more: bit.ly/MKGalleryCinema
