Newport Pagnell Town FC will play in the final of the FA Vase at Wembley as they won their semi-final on penalties.

A 6-5 penalty shootout victory over Hamworthy United at the Swans' Willen Road home ground after a 1-1 draw was enough to ensure their place in the final for the first time.

The match at Wembley will take place on May 22nd, with the FA Vase being played before Wrexham take on Bromley in the FA Trophy final.

They will face Littlehampton FC, who beat Loughborough United 4-0 in the other semi-final. The game will be a meeting of two teams who have never been in the competition's final before.

Billed pre-match as the biggest game in Newport Pagnell Town's history, Mo Ahmed had given the Swans a first half lead with a goal late in the first half.

The home side would hit the post before the break, and would have chances for a second goal in the second half only to be pegged back when Cam Munn equalised for Hamworthy United.

With no winner in 90 minutes, the match went straight to penalties and a lively shoot-out saw each side miss 3 penalties until Hamworthy United saw a 4th penalty saved by goalkeeper Martin Conway, and substitute James Sage scored his, ending the match and sending Newport Pagnell Town into the tournament's final for the first time ever.

Newport Pagnell's road to Wembley began against Harpenden Town in the First Round, while they have also knocked out London Colney, Leighton Town, Buckland Athletic, Fakenham Town, Whittlesey Athletic and Whitchurch Alport before their semis win over Hamworthy.

The Swans' previous best record had been to the Quarter Finals, which they achieved in 2017.

Warrington Rylands 1906 are the reigning holders of the FA Vase, beating Berkshire-based side Binfield 3-2 at Wembley in 2021.
