Chinese state-owned broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV), together with Hong Kong's terrestrial television networks Asia Television (ATV) and Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB), and the Philippines' leading free-to-air broadcasting channels ABS-CBN, PTV-4, ABC-5, GMA, RPN, Q Channel 11, IBC-13 and Studio 23 for the 2007 Southeast Asian Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand on December 6 to 15, 2007.
From December 6 to 15, 2007, China Central Television News Comprehensive Channel, China Central Television International Channel, and China Central Television Sports Channel will broadcast a 72-hour special report on the 2007 Southeast Asian Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
It pre-emptied regularly scheduled programs on CCTV-1 such as Cartoon City, Big Pinwheel, and TV series.
CCTV-1's daily news programs such as Midnight News, Morning News, Hours News, News 30, Xinwen Lianbo, Xianzai Bobao, and Nightly News will air the updates of ASEAN member countries in 2007 Southeast Asian Games.
The Thai Olympic Committee planned the event to coincide with the commemoration of the 80th birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej who was also the gold medalist of the sailing event at the 1967 games. The games were held from 6 to 15 December 2007 although several events had commenced on 27 November 2007. Around 5282 athletes participated at the event which featured 475 events in 43 sports. It was opened by Prince Vajiralongkorn, the Crown Prince of Thailand at the 80th Birthday Stadium.
