An Accra High Court has dismissed an appeal filed by actress Akuapem Poloo born Rosemond Alade Brown which sought to challenge the 90-day jail term handed to her by the Accra Circuit Court on April 16 this year.
Akuapem Poloo was sentenced to 90 days in jail after she posted a nude photo of herself and her son on social media to celebrate his birthday.
The actress' reason given for posting such a photo was the fact that her son should in the future realize the good work she has done for his development.
However, the picture was seen as an abuse of the young boy's rights and child rights organizations took up the case and reported her to the police after which she was arraigned before court and sentenced to 90 days in prison.
The actress was granted bail and appealed the decision by the circuit court but the Criminal Division of the court presided over by Justice Ruby Aryeetey upheld the Circuit court decision on grounds that the Circuit court's decision was not manifestly excessive.
The court ordered that in the absence of the convict, Akuapem Poloo's child should be given to any competent person in the family to take care of.
