We are in the final quarter of this year with still plenty of 2021 sneaker releases to come, and one that the sneaker fans are looking out for is the launch of the Air Jordan 5 Shattered Backboard. This time it is the Air Jordan 5 that gets the Shattered Backboard treatment with a release date of 2 October 2021.
But first, let's take a look at the history of the Shatter Backboard colorway.
History of Air Jordan 1 Shattered Backboard
The off-white, black and orange colors from the Air Jordan 1 is a colorway that was first released in June 2015. This original colorway was inspired by an exhibition game in which Micheal Jordan played put on by Nike in 1985 in Trieste, Italy. In this game, MJ's dunk shattered the backboard. His jersey that he wore in this game was orange with white numbers and so the Shattered Backboard was born.

Carrying the familiar "Shattered Backboard" color blocking, this shoe features slightly off white tone leather uppers. It is paired with collar, tongue portions and quarter panels constructed of a textile mesh. The Jumpman motifs appear on the tongue, rear, sole and innersole, with further branding on the marked lace locks and tongue tags. What stands out are the silver speckled Air-assisted midsoles which further carry the black and orange colorway. There is also the usual translucent air part.
