Like the Devil's Castle, Sugarloaf Peak is another steep-climb add-on to the very popular Cecret Lake trail. From the lake, you climb the same insanely steep slope you climb when heading for Devil's Castle. Once on the ridge line, however, you will head to the right instead of the left.

The climb from the ridge to the summit is slightly less steep and not long. It's only 0.2 miles, so it's very doable to bag both Sugarloaf and Devil's Castle on the same outing. That might be a nice plan because then you only have to climb the ridiculous slope once.

The view from the top of Sugarloaf is worth the climb. You'll have a great vantage point of Mount Baldy, Hidden Peak (with the Snowbird Tram), and Twin Peaks. Looking more to the south, you'll get a great view of the backside of Timpanogos. Both Devil's Castle and Sugarloaf make the backdrop for Pittsburgh lake as well, so you'll have a decent aerial view of that lake.

A perk of this hike (and Devil's Castle) is that it allows you to take the whole family and let everyone be appropriately challenged. For an easy hike, stop at Cecret Lake. For the bonus challenges, try bagging Sugarloaf and Devil's Castle.
