Hey Friends,
Part 3 of my book review for July "If the Sheets Could Talk."
I started a book club with some of my friends in July, and the first book we read is "If the Sheets Could Talk." The book starts off interesting and crazy this lady by the name of Layla went on a date with a guy whom they do not name at the begin. They go out for dinner and after the unknown guy drop her off she invites him in. Even though he nicely decline at first and ask again and they went to have some late evening drinks.
Things take a big turn and when she is murder the unknown guy leave and hunts for his next prey. The story begins with its two main character Marvel and Duce grew up together and became best friends they had a very different background. Marvel was raised by her dad until he pass away and were raised by his parents. Duce were raised by his dad until things got really rough and were raised by his uncle. Both grew up with different background, but became very close and best friends. They spent a lot of time with each other and the more they did the more their feeling got involve.
The book started off strong and engaging, immersing me in the world of Marvel and Duce right from the beginning. However, as the story progressed through the middle, my interest began to wane gradually. Despite this, the narrative delves deeply into the characters of Marvel and Duce, painting a vivid picture of their upbringing and the circumstances that led to their close friendship. As the plot reaches its climax, the pace quickens and the tension mounts. The family's dramatic quest to find the aunt, sparked by a news report, adds a thrilling twist to the storyline. This is accompanied by a series of alarming stalking incidents, adding to the overall sense of unease. Moreover, the sudden turn of events involving the grandparents being targeted and beaten injects a sense of urgency and danger into the narrative, keeping the readers on the edge of their seats.
Here are some of the pointers that me and my friends agreed on that made us made, had questions on or just made sense:
- The twin sister that was taunting Marvel throughout the book was really her cousin
- The auntie that got kidnapped and trafficked and suddenly return
- Asia and Duce father getting together
- How the auntie came back wanted to trafficked Marvel for what happen to her a long time ago
- The grandparent getting to death
- Finding the guy that killed Layla at the beginning of the book was also after Marvel due to what happen with aunt.
- The ending of the book where you thought Duce had died, when Marvel was sitting at the grave, but really it was the aunt that passed away.
It was too much going on in that book, but overall, it was a good book it was just everywhere.
