We are SEW excited to announce we'll be hosting 2 fun-filled, inspirational and informative days with our longtime Janome Canada Artisan, Kim Jamieson-Hirst of Chatterbox Quilts! YES! Kim will be sharing many of her special quilting tips and tricks at the Janome Sewing & Learning Centre in Oakville, ON, Friday September 6th and Saturday September 7th, 2024.
From Calgary, Alberta, Kim has been a Janome Canada Artisan since 2016 and you've undoubtedly enjoyed her blogs and projects here on Janome Life. Now is your chance to benefit from and enjoy Kim's vast knowledge and infectious personality LIVE and in person!
You may also be familiar with Kim's work through her wildly successful Chatterbox Quilts, which is dedicated to helping quilters learn and improve their skills. With her upbeat personality and easy to understand tutorials, Kim enjoys sharing her knowledge through her very popular Chatterbox Quilts' YouTube channel, which boasts nearly 80,000 subscribers! Chatterbox Quilts' Crew group, and her private online membership, The Quilter's Way, is where members learn new techniques by creating projects. Sew many opportunities to share and learn!
How to Wrangle your Scraps – 7pm Friday, September 6th, 2024
The beginning of September unofficially marks the start of "Sewing Season" and what better way to kick off the season than to get your scraps in order!? Fabric scraps can quickly pile up and take over your sewing space, but they don't have to!
In this fun lecture, Kim will guide us through sorting, organizing, and storing your fabric scraps. She will share practical tips for managing your fabric bits, showcase inspiring project ideas, and help you turn those scraps into beautiful quilt creations. This evening will be full of valuable insight and information, prizes to be won, an opportunity to explore the Janome Sewing & Learning Centre and get the first sneak peak at our upcoming Fall Class schedule!

The Mandala Project – 10am-4pm Saturday, September 7th, 2024
Space is limited to 6 participants for this class so do not delay to sign up!
In this all day, hands-on class, Kim will be walking you through all things free motion quilting. You'll discover how to use quilting motifs to stitch a stunning whole cloth wall hanging, or table centerpiece, creating the entire design with free motion quilting. Experiment with a variety of practical motifs to bring your Mandala to life, then echo it using an Even Feed/Dual Feed foot or with Ruler quilting. Finally, complete your project with additional free-motion quilting. All of this will be done on the Top of the Line Janome Continental M17, but don't worry, Kim and our knowledgeable Janome Canada educators will be there to help guide you every step of the way!

This full day class includes a catered lunch (there will be vegetarian and gluten free options) and almost all the supplies you need for your project. All that is left up to you is to bring fabric for your binding.
