The event took place in Chicago and many were hoping to hear Cult of Personality, and the WWE fans did not leave the Allstate Arena disappointed when Punk came out after the main event WarGames match. Recently at the San Diego Comic-Con, I had the opportunity to interview CM Punk for the first time and asked him if a specific moment caused him to want or need to return to the WWE. Punk would respond: No, because it was never like a thing I was yearning to do. There was a lot of things that had to happen for the pathway to kinda clear. The stars had to align, there had to be a full moon, and a lot of dominoes fell in order for us to get here. There was never a "man I would really like to go back". Vince being out of the picture probably illuminated the way. That might have been one of the biggest things. CM Punk would go on to have his first singles match in over ten years at SummerSlam where he was defeated by Drew McIntyre. With the disappointing loss, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for CM Punk going forward.
